CATALOGUE OF INJURIES AND FAILURES
Duo exhibition with Anna Andrea Winther at Kannski Gallery, Reykjavik, 2026

Catalogue of Injuries and failures by artists Maria Sofranova Wahlstrom and Anna Andrea Winther is a display of artifacts from the 21st century. The objects scattered through the gallery question what will remain from our lives, inconveniences, frustrations and daily desires in 500 years?  What objects will refuse to tell a story? Which will lie? Which will say too much?

Maria Safranova Whalstrom’s imagined products could be capitalism’s answer to many problems faced by modern society. From tools that offer convenient solutions to problems like demolition tools being too destructive to be condoned by any sensible oppressive government, or one’s finger getting exhausted from pointing out others’ flaws, Wahlstrom’s works are a biting, humorous, and slightly melancholy examination of modern life.

In contrast, Anna Andrea Winther’s works turns away from the masses and towards the individual. Delicate ceramic and receipt-paper works are subtle recordings of the traces individual bodies leave on the spaces around them; coffee-cup rings, scratches, and spills carefully preserved like paintings or relics.

In total, through dozens of artifacts, Catalogue of Injuries and failures attempts to understand our present through an incomplete inventory of the space between a joke, a love note, and a weapon.
