Tools for easy living exhibition offers its visitors a slightly subverted consumeristic experience of visiting a department store typical to large city centers. Albeit rather than interior design and fashion, the visitors will be presented with the necessities for navigating our contemporary (dysfunctional) societies.

The installation is filled with whimsical tools and interior accessories with feeling-good-about-the-world-falling-apart design. The objects borrows the aesthetics prevalent to the design scene of the last decade, inspired by the visuals of movements like Bauhaus and Memphis Group. The colourful references are an attempt to distract the “troubled by the state of the world” consumers, to help them stay joyful until the bitter-sweet end. The playfulness and materiality of the works provoke the visitors to play with the thoughts of some of the problems of today's narcissistic societies. They blend funkiness and frustration, attractiveness and desirability with the obscenity and crookedness of late neoliberal capitalism in the experience of this show.

Tools for easy living put together sculptures that mix objects that we recognize from our everyday life, with symbols, materials and aesthetics from other, unexpected contexts that

subvert their function and purpose. These works engage in a humorous way with our unreflective collective beliefs and the ideological trends present in society of today.
